WDR AR 1933-1945 App

AR App (2019)

Description

How does it feel to fear for your life? How does it affect you if you stay in a bunker for days? What do contemporary witnesses still remember? Which memories became deeply ingrained in their souls?
The Augmented Reality project "War Children", which was realised jointly by LAVAlabs Moving Images and the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences for Westdeutscher Rundfunk, provides answers to these questions. The app preserves an important piece of contemporary history for future generations with state-of-the-art technology and makes it possible to immerse oneself in the past. The goal of the project "War Children" is to tell stories of survivors of the second world war by means of augmented reality. Three contemporary witnesses from Cologne, Leningrad and London describe what was suppressed for decades. Computer-generated animations in 3D bring their stories to life - close enough to touch and shockingly real.
